(Contributed by Li Lin) In order to further achieve the goal of standardization of Chinese school management, teaching standardization and teacher professionalization in the UK, the British Chinese Education Promotion Association held the 8th UK Principals Forum and the 2025 New Year’s launch ceremony of the “Yearbook” at the University of Westminster in London on February 23, 2025.
Nearly 100 principals and teachers in charge of unified examinations from 43 Chinese schools in England and Scotland gathered together to discuss the unified examinations for Chinese schools in the UK.
Under the guidance of academic and education expert Principal Yan Lijuan, the principals and teachers summarized the unified examination work for the first grade in the summer semester of 2024, and discussed the types and content of the unified examination assessment for the second grade to be tried out in 2025. Zhou Xiaoyan, leader of the unified examination leadership group of the British Chinese Education Promotion Association, made a comprehensive summary of last year’s unified examination work and put forward specific guidance for this year’s unified examination. Principal Wang Caiyu of the British Chinese Education Promotion Association read out the consensus reached by the principals of this year’s principals’ forum on the unified examination of British Chinese schools this year.
Counselor Liu Hongmei of the Chinese Embassy in the UK brought New Year’s greetings for the Year of the Snake to the 2025 Principal Forum and the New Year’s Launch Ceremony of the Yearbook. Counselor Liu thanked the overseas Chinese and friends who have long been concerned about and supported Chinese education, promoted Chinese culture, and made positive contributions to Sino-British friendship. She fully affirmed the important role of overseas Chinese education in inheriting the Chinese language and culture, enhancing the identity and cohesion of overseas Chinese, connecting different cultural groups and promoting mutual learning among civilizations.
In his speech, Wu Shanxiong, President of the British Chinese Education Promotion Association, reviewed the history of Chinese education in the UK, thanked the Chinese and overseas Chinese in the UK for their long-term support and help for Chinese education, and encouraged the principals to unite and cooperate to achieve the unified examination for the second grade this year.

In his New Year’s message, Huang Zhenli, principal of London Yiling Chinese School and executive president of the British Chinese Education Promotion Association, on behalf of the principal and the person in charge of the Unified Examination, extended New Year greetings to the Chinese language education experts, overseas Chinese leaders and friends from all walks of life present, and praised the overseas Chinese leaders for their long-term support for Chinese education.
Professor Li Wei, President of University College London and Fellow of the British Academy, discussed “teaching standardization” with principals and teachers. He pointed out that driven by new educational trends and AI technology, international Chinese education needs to strengthen teacher training, formulate standards, and deepen cooperation.
Zhou Xiaoyan, teaching director of Liren Chinese School, summarized the original intention of the test paper design and the implementation effect of the 2024 first-grade unified examination, which was participated by 400 students from 16 pilot schools.
