As a new national lockdown is announced to begin in England on Thursday, professional sport becomes even more important to the British people. This weekend saw England become the 6 Nations Rugby Champions with a victory over Italy. England ladies also completed a back to back Grand Slam with a victory over Italy.
In football Manchester City defeated Sheffield United 1-0. Chelsea easily brushed aside Burnley 3-0 Liverpool came from behind to defeat West Ham United 2-1 whilst Wolves beat Crystal Palace 2-0. There was a seven goal thriller at Aston Villa, Southampton defeating the home side 4-3 Newcastle had a good win over Everton 2-1. Manchester United who yesterday announced the death of England World Cup winner Nobby Stiles were beaten at home 1-0 by Arsenal thanks to a penalty. It was Arsenal’s first win at United in 14 years. Tottenham went second in the Premier League when they defeated Brighton by 2-1.
Norwich defeated Bristol 3-1 Stoke defeated Rotherham 1-0 and Bournemouth and Derby ended 1-1
